Japanese Forms (Pyong Ahn and Bassai)

These forms are the ones currently used for Belt Promotions at ADVANCE! Martial Arts.

Originally descended from the Shotokan Karate forms formalized by Gichin Funikoshi, these versions were taught at the Moo Duk Kwan school in Korea. The movements are said to be descended from ancient Okinawan and Chinese fighting methods.

The name “Pyong Ahn” implies a way of peace and harmony, rather than violence.
